I had the wonderful opportunity to teach in a small school district, Newport School District, which is located in the country outside of Harrisburg, PA. Newport is located in the Perry county. It is a different than the area I grew up in. Because of this placement, I was able to learn and experience differences each day. My cooperating teacher was Amy Finnerty.  She is one of the busiest teachers, and she always had a positive attitude. I learned so much from her.  At Newport Elementary school, I taught general music classes to students who were in pre-k through 5th grade. I used many different types of methods in my lessons such as Gordon, Orff, Kodaly, and more. It was a great experience to work with such great students. I taught there from 1-4-10 through 2-19-10.

It was such a great honor to work at Central Dauphin High School with so many wonderful music teachers who are passionate of what they do. My cooperating teacher was Sam Kibler, director of orchestras. I learned a lot from him and his teaching style. He gave me wonderful experiences at the high school when teaching grades 9-12. I taught classes such as music theory, guitar, choir, and orchestra. So I feel the confidence that is needed to teach a diverse selection of classes. During this placement, not only did I learn from my cooperating teacher but I learned from the other teachers around me. I learned a great deal from the choir and band directors too. I hope to further my confidecne that has grown a great deal at CD high. I worked at CD from 2-22-10 through 4-30-10.
